Writing for Writing’s Sake

I’ve been writing a long time.

98% of what I have written is not published, including several partial books, dozens of research papers, and tons more napkins, to-self-texts for later, songs, poems, and rants. This doesn’t include emails, messages, or any other social platforms.

Many times we write articles and papers because it’s what we are supposed to do. Yet, good writing requires tapping into and expressing a passion. Good writing is best done when themes and ideas are flowing. When the ideas stop, just wait, listen, engage, and think, more will come. I have spent many seasons trying to write and set myself up for failure ultimately giving up before I really get started.

So, as a way of letting my readers know what I’m doing and a provide focus for myself so I don’t get lost in the journey.

For the next few months, I am going to write as often as I feel inspired. In the last week, I have written several articles per day and will release one per day. This is not something that I will commit to presently, but as I engage the world, vital issues, and continued conversations with others, a rhythm will surely find its grove.

I’ll continue to write theological positions over at gracetruth.org, this blog will be carrying an ongoing conversation about life and living, writing, engaging the culture, having conversations, learning new ideas, and a few other random thoughts related to my unique place in life. One of my ultimate goals is to be free of the need for social media, so, if you like our conversations, please begin to have them here. One day, I’ll put an end to allowing other platforms to dictate my voice.

If you could express yourself, what would you start saying? Are you interested in discovering your voice in the midst of a lot of noise? Let’s talk. I’m listening.

That recognition is where the work starts. A discovery call is one focused conversation: no pitch, no commitment. You leave knowing what is actually going on and whether working together makes sense.
