Who is Jesus? Can you say who Jesus is to you… I would be willing to bet that if you define Jesus, you would probably define Him based on your past, pastor, parents and post modern thinking. Do you know Him or do you know something about Him?
Let me challenge you to ANSWER the question in your own mind of who Jesus is to you and who He really is! Offer your answer and let’s see if you are right.
The REAL Jesus?
You often hear people say, “I believe in Jesus” and assume they are referring to the Jesus found in the Bible. Unfortunately there are many ‘christs’ that are available to ‘believe’ in. The truth is that according to the scriptures, there is only ONE CHRIST that offers eternal live and salvation from sin. Jesus of the Bible says, “I am the Way the Truth and the Life. 2 Corinthians 11:4 teaches us to be careful of all the christs that will appear in the world.
Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons and Muslims all hold to a belief in ‘a’ Jesus, but none of them believe in the Jesus of Scripture. A real Christian believes in the Christ of Scripture alone, not a variant.
The word believe holds very little meaning in the world today. For most, to ‘believe’ is to just know in the mind. The true meaning of believe is to ‘put your trust in.’ So have you put your trust in Christ to save you? Romans 10:9 says that if we confess that Christ is our ‘boss’ and King and ‘put our trust in the fact’ that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.
Belief involves trust which involves a real relationship, not just knowledge of someone. To have Christ as Lord, Savior and friend means that you trust in Him and spend time with Him. Do you have a relationship with the Christ of the Bible? He made some bold claims of deity… the creator of the universe.
Jesus says in John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
