Be Politically INCORRECT – Pope vs Islam

Pope BenedictIn a speech Tuesday Pope Benedict offended most of the Muslim world. “In his speech, the pope quoted 14th-century Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus who said: “Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” This has highly offended some Muslims and they are appauled that the Pope would dare refer to them as violent.

Outside the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta, police looked on as protesters stood behind the gates waving flags while organizer Heri Budianto shouted, “God is great.” (Watch other Muslims burn the pope in effigy — 1:41)

“Of course as we know the meaning of jihad can only be understood by Muslims,” Budianto told the crowd. “Only Muslims can understand what jihad is. It is impossible that jihad can be linked with violence, we Muslims have no violent character.”

Interesting enough, the response has been violent outbreaks against the statement of a violent Islam. Islam means peace, yes, but the Quaran and the Hadith both point to violent expression against Jews and Christians. Not for their conversion, but elimination. Any Muslim that doesn’t agree with these facts holds to a watered down faith.

The sad commentary of this whole issue is that the ‘peaceful’ religion of Islam is calling for punishment against the Pope for his quote of Manuel II. If Islam is a ‘faith’ of peace and unity, then where is the grace now? I would love to know if a devout Muslim would agree that the Pope’s statement was offensive. If Allah hasn’t called for animosity and separation against people of other faiths, then the Quaran is wrong and should be rewritten.
